Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-10-23.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and DTS Analytics LLC ("DTS Analytics," "Company," "we," "us," "our"), which operates MarketNewsAPI. They govern your access to and use of marketnewsapi.com, the account dashboard, the REST API at https://api.marketnewsapi.com/v1, the WebSocket stream at wss://ws.marketnewsapi.com/v1/stream, the Model Context Protocol ("MCP") server at https://mcp.marketnewsapi.com/mcp, the live news desk, documentation, and related services (together, the "Service").

If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity, and "you" and "your" mean that entity. By creating an account, using an API key, connecting an MCP client, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the AI Policy, and the Privacy Policy, each of which is part of these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

Related: Privacy Policy · AI Policy · Acceptable Use Policy.

1. The Service

MarketNewsAPI is a developer product for US stock news. Depending on your plan, the Service may include:

  • Article data. US stock news (publisher reporting), press releases, and legal notices (shareholder class-action and investor-alert notices). Paid plans, including the trial, can search the full archive. Each article can include a headline, source, timestamps, tickers, a type, a link to the original, a machine-generated short summary, and entity tags. Press releases can include the full text of the release. Publisher articles and legal notices are provided as headlines, snippets, summaries, and links.
  • REST API. Search, filter, and retrieve articles over HTTPS with an API key.
  • WebSocket stream. On Pro, including the trial, a live stream of new articles, filtered by the channels you subscribe to.
  • MCP server. On Pro, including the trial, tools that let an assistant you already use search the feed and return articles with source links.
  • Website. Documentation, pricing, a live news desk, and an account dashboard for keys, usage, billing, and connected assistants.

Plan features, prices, and limits are described on the pricing page and in the documentation. They may change as described in Section 6 and Section 19.

MarketNewsAPI is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, financial planner, tax adviser, or legal adviser. The Service is a news and data tool. Section 9 is part of the reason you may use it.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that age is higher, and able to form a binding contract. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under the laws of the United States or of the place where you access it. The Service is not directed to children under 13.

You represent that the information you give us is accurate and that you will keep it current.

3. Accounts

  • You may create an account with an email and a password, or by signing in with Google. A password must be at least 8 characters. We store passwords only as scrypt hashes.
  • You are responsible for the confidentiality of your password, session, and API keys, and for all activity under your account, whether or not you authorized it.
  • Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you believe your account or a key has been exposed. Revoke the key in the dashboard as soon as you can.
  • One person or organization, one account. You may not open extra accounts to obtain another trial, another free quota, or to evade a limit or a suspension.
  • You may not share an account across unrelated organizations. Employees and contractors of the organization that owns the account may use it for that organization's work.
  • Automated signup is not allowed. Automated use of the Service is allowed only through the REST API, WebSocket, or MCP server, with a valid key, inside your plan limits.
  • You can close your account in dashboard settings. Closing it cancels a paid subscription, revokes your keys, and deletes the account. You can also ask us to close it by email.

4. API keys and connected assistants

Keys are issued to your account. A key looks like mna-live- followed by a secret. We store a SHA-256 hash, which the API checks, and an encrypted copy of the secret so signed-in pages can fill in your primary key. You can have up to 20 active keys. Every key on an account shares that account's plan and usage.

You may pass a key in the Authorization: Bearer header, the X-API-Key header, or, where the documentation allows it, as an api_key query parameter. A key in a URL can leak through logs, browser history, and referrers. Prefer a header.

If you approve an MCP connector from the dashboard, we create a dedicated key for that connection. You can revoke it at any time. You are responsible for the assistants, scripts, and people you give a key to, and for their compliance with these Terms.

Do not publish a key in a repository, a client-side app, a screenshot, or a support ticket. If a key is exposed, we may revoke it to protect the Service.

5. Plans, the trial, and billing

There is a free plan and a paid Pro plan. Current features are on the pricing page. In summary, and subject to that page if it is more specific:

  • Trial. A new account can start on Pro for 7 days. A card is required. One trial per email address. You are not charged during the trial. When the 7 days end, you may subscribe to stay on Pro. If you do not, the account moves to Free and keeps its keys, with Free limits.
  • Free. REST only, 100 requests per day, headlines delayed 15 minutes, and history limited to the last year. No WebSocket and no MCP server.
  • Pro. Real-time REST, WebSocket, and MCP, with no daily or monthly request quota, the full archive, up to 3 concurrent WebSocket connections, and full text on press releases. Pro is $15 per month, or $162 per year ($13.50 per month), in U.S. dollars, plus tax where we are required to collect it.

Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe and renew automatically, monthly or annually, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide, including for renewals.

  • You can change or cancel a plan in the dashboard or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep paid access until then.
  • Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect as the billing page describes, generally at the next renewal unless we apply them sooner.
  • If a payment fails, we may retry it, notify you, and suspend paid features until the invoice is paid. The account may fall back to Free limits while a subscription is past due.
  • We may change prices or plan features with at least 30 days' notice by email. The change applies at your next renewal after that notice. If you do not agree, cancel before the renewal.
  • Fees are exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for taxes we must collect, other than taxes on our net income.
  • No refunds. Fees are paid in advance and are not refundable. That includes unused time in a billing period, cancellation, a downgrade, a plan change, and termination of an account, including termination for a violation of these Terms. Canceling stops the next renewal. You keep paid access until the end of the period you already paid for. The 7-day trial is not charged. Nothing in this section limits a non-waivable right that the law where you live requires us to honor.
  • A custom limit, a service-level commitment, or a redistribution license exists only if we sign a separate written agreement for it.

6. Usage limits

"Unlimited" on Pro means we do not set a daily or monthly quota on REST requests or WebSocket messages. It does not mean the absence of every limit. The following still apply, along with any limit published on the pricing page or in the documentation:

  • A burst limit of 20 requests per second, to protect the Service for everyone.
  • At most 3 concurrent WebSocket connections on one Pro account, and at most 200 channel subscriptions on one connection.
  • Page size and other parameter limits stated in the documentation.
  • Free-plan caps: 100 requests per day, a 15-minute delay, and the last year of history.

If you exceed a limit, we may throttle, reject, or delay the excess traffic. We may also throttle or suspend traffic that threatens the stability, security, or fairness of the Service, even if it is inside a published number. We will tell you when we reasonably can.

7. License to use the data

While your account is in good standing, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the data the Service returns and to use it as this Section and the Acceptable Use Policy allow.

You may:

  • Call the API, and on an eligible plan the WebSocket and MCP server, inside your plan limits.
  • Display headlines, snippets, summaries, entities, timestamps, tickers, and links inside your own applications, internal tools, dashboards, bots, research, and newsletters.
  • On a paid plan, use the data inside a commercial product you offer to your own customers, as an input to that product, provided you do not give those customers the raw feed itself.
  • Cache responses in order to reduce your own request volume, for a period that is reasonable for your application.
  • Use the data for internal research, backtests, and training of models that stay inside your organization.
  • Display the full text of a press release that the Service includes, with attribution and a link to the original release when you show it to an end user. Those releases are written to be distributed.

You may not, unless a separate written agreement from us says otherwise:

  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the raw feed, a bulk download, or a substantial portion of the archive as a standalone data product, a dataset, or a competing news API.
  • Mirror the archive, or systematically store it, in order to replace the Service or to offer the corpus to third parties.
  • Remove the link to the original publisher when you show a third-party article, a press release, or a legal notice to an end user, or present that item as your own reporting.
  • Republish the full text of a publisher article or a legal notice. For those items the license covers the headline, snippet, summary, metadata, entities, and a link.
  • Use the data to train a model whose purpose is to reproduce the feed or to substitute for a news API.

Headlines, article text, and press releases remain the property of their publishers and authors. Summaries and entity tags that we generate are part of the Service. Your license to them ends when your license to the Service ends. We do not assign you any copyright in a third-party article.

This license ends when your account ends, when these Terms end for you, or when we revoke it for a violation. Sections that restrict use of data you already received survive, including the prohibitions on resale and on removing attribution.

8. Acceptable use

Your use of the Service is also governed by the Acceptable Use Policy. You agree not to scrape the website in place of the API, exceed or evade limits, probe the Service for vulnerabilities without permission, share keys publicly, use the Service for market manipulation, spam, or any unlawful purpose, or interfere with other customers. We may throttle, suspend, or terminate access that violates the Acceptable Use Policy.

9. Not investment advice

Please read this section. It limits what you may rely on the Service for.

  • Information only. Articles, headlines, summaries, entity tags, timestamps, links, documentation, blog posts, and any price shown beside a headline are for informational purposes. They are not investment advice, trading advice, financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or any other professional advice.
  • No recommendation. Nothing on the Service is a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy, sell, hold, or trade any security or other asset.
  • No relationship. Use of the Service does not create an adviser-client, broker-customer, or fiduciary relationship. DTS Analytics is not a registered investment adviser or a broker-dealer, and it owes you no fiduciary duty.
  • Machine-generated fields can be wrong. Summaries and entities are produced by models. They can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or fabricated. Read the AI Policy.
  • News can be late, missing, or wrong. We do not guarantee that any article is timely, complete, or correct, that any source will keep publishing, or that a ticker tag matches the company you think it matches. Classification into stock news, press release, and legal can be wrong.
  • Prices on the website. A price or change shown next to a headline on the website is a delayed figure for context, commonly about 15 minutes, and is not part of the API. It can differ from the price at your broker. The API license in Section 7 does not include a license to market quotes.
  • You decide. You are solely responsible for any trading, investment, or other decision you make, and for checking an article against its original source before you rely on it. Past movement in a price is not a prediction of future movement.
  • Your users. If you display the data to your own users, you are responsible for the notices those users need, including that the content is not investment advice.

10. Artificial intelligence

The Service uses models to write a short summary and extract entities. Pro, including the trial, also exposes the feed through an MCP server that your own assistant calls. That use is governed by the AI Policy. You must not treat a summary as a fact you have verified, and you must not present our output as personalized investment advice.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, documentation, design, logo, and the selection and arrangement of the feed, is owned by DTS Analytics LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not sell you that property. They give you the license in Section 7 and the right to use the dashboard and documentation for their ordinary purpose.

MarketNewsAPI is a trademark of DTS Analytics LLC. You may refer to the product by name to say that your application uses it. You may not register a domain, an app name, or a handle that is confusingly close to MarketNewsAPI, or use our logo in a way that suggests we made or endorsed your product, unless we agree in writing.

Names of publishers, wire services, assistants, and other products are trademarks of their owners. We use them to describe sources and compatibility. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by those owners.

If you send us a suggestion about the Service, you grant DTS Analytics a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use it without obligation to you. We do not claim ownership of your application.

12. Third-party services and content

Articles originate with publishers and wire services, which can include GlobeNewswire, Business Wire, PR Newswire, ACCESS Newswire, Newsfile, Dow Jones, and other sources we add or remove. Those materials stay under their owners' rights. Your use of them through the Service does not give you any right beyond Section 7.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Sign-in may be processed by Google. Transactional email is sent through our email provider. Enrichment calls go to MiniMax. MCP clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, and Windsurf are your tools, under their own terms. The website may show delayed prices from a market-data source.

We do not control those third parties. We are not responsible for their outages, their price changes, their decision to restrict an API, or the content of a publisher. A link to an original article is not an endorsement of that publisher.

We are not affiliated with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, any exchange, or any other regulator. A filing, a halt, or a legal notice mentioned in an article is information from the source, not a statement by us.

13. Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep the Service available and the feed current. We do not promise uninterrupted, timely, or error-free operation, any particular latency, or the continued availability of any source, ticker, or field.

We may add, change, or remove features, sources, models, and limits. For the versioned v1 API, we will announce a breaking change on the changelog at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required to fix a security issue, to comply with law, or to stop abuse. A new optional field is not a breaking change.

We may suspend the Service for maintenance. We will try to schedule maintenance so it is visible on the status page. We are not liable for a modification, suspension, or discontinuation of a feature.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DTS ANALYTICS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that any article, summary, entity, ticker, timestamp, or price will be accurate or complete, or that errors will be corrected. Any latency figure on the website, including a figure stated in milliseconds, is a design goal, not a warranty.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DTS ANALYTICS LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, DATA, USE, OR BUSINESS, OR FOR ANY TRADING, INVESTMENT, OR FINANCIAL LOSS, WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

Without limiting that disclaimer, we have no liability for losses you incur in the securities markets, whether or not those losses relate to an article, a delay, a missing item, a wrong ticker, or a summary.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising out of the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).

These limits apply to every theory of liability, including contract, tort, and statute. They do not apply to liability that applicable law does not allow to be limited, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such a limit is prohibited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those jurisdictions, the limits apply to the fullest extent permitted.

16. Indemnity

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DTS Analytics LLC and its members, managers, employees, and agents from and against any third-party claim, damage, loss, and reasonable attorneys' fees arising out of: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your application and the way you display data to your users; (c) your violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy; (d) your violation of law or of a third party's rights, including a publisher's rights; or (e) a dispute between you and your own customer.

We will notify you of a claim we expect you to defend, and we will cooperate reasonably. You may not settle a claim that admits fault by us or imposes an obligation on us unless we agree in writing. We may take part in the defense with our own counsel.

17. Dispute resolution and governing law

These Terms and your use of the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The federal and state courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming, are the exclusive venue for any court proceeding that these Terms allow, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Before filing a claim, the party raising it will send a written notice describing the dispute to the address in Section 22, or to [email protected], and the parties will try in good faith to resolve it for thirty (30) days. A notice to you may be sent to the email on your account.

If the dispute is not resolved in that period, either party may start binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be held in Sheridan County, Wyoming, or by video if both parties agree. The arbitrator may award any individual relief a court could award. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

Class action waiver. Proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action. If a court finds this waiver unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court and the rest of this arbitration provision remains in effect. If a court finds the waiver unenforceable as to all claims, this entire arbitration provision is void.

Either party may seek provisional or injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property, confidential information, or the security of the Service, without waiving arbitration of the underlying dispute.

18. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, or revoke a key, if you violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if a payment fails, if we are required to by law, or if your use creates risk for the Service, for other customers, or for a third party. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you the reason and give you a chance to fix a curable violation before we close the account.

On termination, your license ends and your keys stop working. We may delete account data as the Privacy Policy describes. Sections that by their nature should survive do survive, including Sections 7 (restrictions), 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 21.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms by posting a new version and changing the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will also send notice to the email on your account or post a notice in the dashboard, at least 15 days before the change applies to you, unless the change is required by law or to address abuse. If you keep using the Service after the effective date, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, close your account before that date.

20. Force majeure

We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages of cloud, network, payment, email, or AI providers, failures of a publisher or a wire, labor disputes, or acts of government.

21. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the AI Policy, and the Acceptable Use Policy are the entire agreement between you and DTS Analytics about the Service. They replace earlier oral or written statements about the same subject. A separate signed order, if we enter one, controls where it conflicts.
  • Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A court or arbitrator may reform a provision so it becomes enforceable.
  • No waiver. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. A waiver must be in writing to be effective.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them to a successor of the business. An assignment to a successor does not reduce the commitments in these Terms.
  • Notices. We may notify you through the Service or at the email on your account. You may notify us at the address in Section 22 or at [email protected].
  • Relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, or agency. You and we are independent contractors.
  • Export and sanctions. You will not use the Service in violation of U.S. export-control or sanctions laws, and you represent that you are not a restricted party.
  • Government use. The Service is a commercial product. If you are a government user, you receive only the rights these Terms grant to other customers.
  • Headings. Headings are for convenience only.
