News features for quant desks and funds
A quant desk does not need another website. It needs rows. MarketNewsAPI's row is an article id, tickers, a type, and both the publisher time and the ingest time.
How does a stock news API help quant researchers and fund developers?
Systematic teams pull US stock news as JSON, filter to press releases or legal notices, and join timestamps to their own market data. Paid plans include the full archive.
When this stock news workflow fits
- You already have prices and need a news feature, not a chart.
- Event type matters: a press release and a law-firm alert are different signals.
- You will measure latency yourself from
ingested_at
minus
published_at
.
The call
Press-release rows for one name
The same article shape on every guide: ticker, type, timestamps, summary, and a link. Press releases include the full text.
curl "https://api.marketnewsapi.com/v1/news?type=press_release&tickers=NVDA&limit=100" \

Choose the event set
Most equity-event studies start with type=press_release. Add type=news only if you want journalist coverage in the same feature.
Keep both clocks
published_at is when the publisher released it. ingested_at is when the row was stored. The difference is the latency of that feature.
Stream the live book
A production job can subscribe to ticker: channels for the tradable universe and write each message to your store. REST remains the historical load.
